The Sun says United turned down a hush-hush approach from Arsenal for Shaw throughout the Alexis Sanchez talks.
Left-back Shaw was wanted by Wenger in exchange for Sanchez.
But United are expected to bring up the choice from the extra year on Shaw's contract instead of risk losing him at the conclusion from the season.

Sanchez was absent from Arsenal's 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace as he travelled up north to finish his £35million transfer to Old Trafford.
