Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is demanding his players not let up after victory over Brighton.

He believes they could achieve much more by becoming the very first team to attain 100 points. They could do this having a win against Southampton inside the final bet on the season.

Guardiola said : “We had to keep our level all of the season to attempt to break the records.

“Maintain our intensity. 87 points, lots of goals and wins - that is a result from the season we have done.

“Now it is an additional game, we will try for 100 points and finish this almost perfect season.

Guardiola spoke of his pride after eclipsing the Premier League's greatest sides - Manchester United's Treble winners, Arsenal Invincibles and Chelsea's champions under Jose Mourinho.

“We've spoken about trying to write down a brand new page, he said. “I cannot forget the 90s with Liverpool dominating English football.

“The 90s when Sir Alex Ferguson, with favourite player Paul Scholes, David Beckham - an amazing generation.

“The Invincibles, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira - the way in which they play.

“After then came Jose Mourinho with Chelsea, Petr Cech, John Terry, Didier Drogba.

“They deserve as being best however we were better than all them in one single season.
